George R. Bowes, 77, of 28 Church St., Dunnstown, died Jan. 4, 2012 at the Extended Care Unit of Lock Haven Hospital.
He was bon Aug. 7, 1934 in Lock Haven, a son of the late Robert E. and Ruth A. Probst Bowes.
On May 8, 1981 in Antes Fort, he married Evelyn Strauch, who survives at home.
George had retired after 40 years from International Paper Co. He also worked at several other places, including Wal-Mart.
George attended the Church of God in Jersey Shore and enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading and especially doing anything that had to do with history. He also enjoyed watching football.
He was a 1952 graduate of Lock Haven High School. He served in the US Army with a rank of PFC
Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, Douglas A. Richard (Clarice Martin) of West Point, N.Y., and David C. (Kristin) Richard of Newnan, Ga., and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert M. Bowes.
At Mr. Bowes request, there will be no public visitation or services.
Interment will be in Dunnstown Cemetery.
