and his first wife Shirley Jean, who preceded him in death.
He will be sorely missed as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and dear friend to more people then we can enumerate. He was raised in Indiana. He loved flying and enjoyed his days of soaring into the sky. He also loved to fish. He was an avid gardener, nurturing plants, annuals, flowering bushes, and maintaining naturel's beauty at its best. We celebrate his life of dedicated service to others. Dale began his professional life in radio as an engineer. He spent many years as a bread man delivering throughout the countryside. He managed restaurants, one of which was the first Arby's in Grand Rapids. He also worked at Sears in the Woodland Mall, running the restaurants and then the candy counter and finally selling lawn equipment. After retiring from Sears, he worked as a Physical Facilities Representative for the Church of Jesus Crist of the Latter Day Saints, during a period of great growth, overseeing the building of many church facilities in West Michigan. After retiring from this position, he found a place where his many skills and great talents could be utilized at the Area Agency on Aging. He was the maintenance specialist and kept thing running smoothly for many years. Dale amazed everyone with his boundless energy and " get it done" attitude. He was still employed and mowing lawns and fixing all things broken until he suddenly became ill. He was a church pioneer in the area of the church, faithfully serving in various leadership positions and always lending a hand to those who needed his help. He brought joy and order to those around him.
