Funeral services for Holley were held on Friday, November 30, 2001, 11:00 a.m., at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen. Father Al Jakubowski officiated. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Withee, with full military rites by Greenwood American Legion Post #238. Pallbearers were: Mike Vetterkind, Dan Vetterkind, David Vetterkind, Luke Vetterkind, Elmer Noah, Jason Noah and Eric Turner.
Holley Ernest Vetterkind was born on July 2, 1929, Town of Hixon, Withee, the son of William and Viola (Collier) Vetterkind. He served his country from 1951 to 1953 with the U.S. Army, with military duty in Japan and Korea.
Holley and the former Frances Truse were united in marriage on April 12, 1954, at St. Hedwig's Chapel in Thorp. He was employed for a total of 39 years in heavy construction with Plautz Bros./Pekol of Willard. An outdoorsman, Holley and Frances enjoyed fishing, and he was a hunter, also Holley was a member of the Greenwood American Legion Post #238.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 47 years, Frances Vettrkind of Greenwood; four sons: Michael (Carla) Vetterkind of Greenwod, Patrick (Betty) Vetterkind of Willard, David Vetterkind of Homer, Alaska, Daniel Vetterkind of Greenwood; one brother, Ernie Vetterkind of Withee; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in deah by his parents; daughter Susan Frances Armbrust on November 29, 1996; one brother William Vetterkind, Jr. and one sister, Alice Henke.
