COLUMBIA - Mrs. Jessie Lee Dawkins Patterson, 94, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2011, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. A graveside service will be held in Flat Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery in Georgia at a later date.
Born October 25, 1916, in Franklin County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Noah and Bessie Crow Dawkins. Mrs. Patterson was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church for the past 56 years.
She is survived by five children, Mrs. R.D. (Norma P.) May Hunt, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Steve (Delores) Patterson, Mrs. Charlotte P. Joyner and Ben McFadden, Lt. Col. Charles E. and Mrs. (Patsy P.) Bushee and Mr. and Mrs. William Ralph (Janet P.) Crossland; 11 grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. John B. May Jr., Mr. William D. May, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight S. Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie (Sharon P.) Albert, Ms. Susan J. Andrews, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff (Deborah J.) Caudle, Ms. Pamela Joyner, Dr. and Mrs. Joseph (Tracy B.) Aniello, Mr. and Mrs. William (Robyn B.) McGinnis, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Crossland, and Mr. and Mrs. Trent (Shelley C.) Speers; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Heyward (Josephine D.) Ginn of Canon, Ga.
She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, William Dennis Patterson; two sons, William O. and George T. Patterson; and two grandchildren, Donald L. May and Sandra L. Patterson.
