Hiram Peterson was son of Hiram and Roxania Peterson. He joined the Union Army in 1861 for Illinois. He was in the 7th Illinois Infantry. He was one of four brothers who served in the Civil War. He married Elizabeth Young in 1865. She passed away in 1873 and he married Dora Mays in Minnesota in 1873. He moved to Wisconsin and as a mason, helped build around town.
