Margaret Evelyn Cassida Calloway, 74, of 121 Wellington Street, died Saturday, Feb 24, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital after a period of decling health.
Mrs. Calloway was a native of Yancey County and had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was employed with McDonalds as a biscuit maker since 1993 and was formerly employed with Minico Cleaners and Laundry for 45 years where she was an office worker and attendant. She was a member of Clayton Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Calloway's life portrayed the true meaning of Praise of a Virtuous Woman.
Truly, the world lost a blessed, loving and virtuous woman on Feb. 24, 2001. She always put others needs before her own and never told anyone no.
Mrs. Calloway was the daughter of the late James Alexander and Mollie Roland Cassida and the wife of Richard Vernon Calloway who died on January 8, 1989,
Surviving are her daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Elaine Calloway of the home; foster sons, Jeff Shipman and wife Debbie and Johnnie Calloway and wife Wanda, all of Asheville.
Funeral services will be held at Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Bruce Robinson and T. A. Holder officiating. Burial will be in Vance Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Shipman, Jeff Rhinehart, Scott Owenby, Matthew Dills, and Clint Parker.
