FORT WORTH -- Zach M. Gilliland, 78, a retired chairman of Woodhaven National Bank, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, in El Paso.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shannon North Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Mike McKee will officiate. Burial: Following an honor guard by the Moslah Drum and Bugle Corps, Zach will be laid to rest in Greenwood Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be B.C. Adams, Richard Carroll, James G. Chatmas, Andrew Eggemeyer, Jacob Eggemeyer, Charles E. Johnson, Bud Ledingham, E.E. Stell and Ray Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be past potentates of Moslah Shrine.

Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials are requested to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Box 1320, Fort Worth, Texas 76101.

Zach was born July 19, 1925, in Fort Worth to Denny Boone Gilliland and Lucy Key Morris Gilliland. He was the grandson of the Rev. I.Z.T. Morris, founder of the Texas Children's Aid Society, now the Gladney Center for Adoption.

He was past potentate of Moslah Shrine, founding junior warden and past master of Hurst Lodge 1387, past district deputy grand master of District 64-B, past president of Moslah Shrine Drum and Bugle Corps and a member of Court 32, Royal Order of Jesters. He was a 33rd-degree Mason and a 50-year member of Moslah Shrine.

He was founding president of Hurst State Bank, now J.P. Morgan Chase-Hurst; executive vice president of Central Bank and Trust; and founding chairman of the board of Woodhaven National Bank.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Brenda Denise Gilliland.

Survivors: Loving wife of 53 years, Jean Gilliland; son, Zeke Gilliland and his wife, Clarisa, of El Paso; grandsons, Jacob and Andrew Eggemeyer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Jo Ann Johnson; sister-in-law, Frances Parsons, all of Irving; cousin, Elizabeth Yokel of Houston; and several nieces and nephews.
