The third of nine children born to Verle Thomas and Flora Dorset (Clevenger) Warfield of Rushville, Rush Co IN, Verl married Doris Genevieve Mosier on 19 Jun 1941 in Indianapolis, Marion Co IN. They had four children, three daughters and one son.
In 2010, Uncle Verl was admitted to hospital. While there, Aunt Doris became ill. They shared a room in the hospital and this was as it should be for a couple who had just celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Sadly, Aunt Doris developed congestive heart failure and passed away the next month.
In the summer of 1962 Uncle Verl and Aunt Doris had a family gathering at their home near Indianapolis. There was a big dinner, horsehoes for the men out back, plenty of children running around, all the aunts sitting together and catching up on the latest news and we teens were having our own fun. We were on our way to California and it would be one of the last times we would all be together as such.
The house is gone now, razed to make room for an interstate highway. It was a beautiful home, but so was the family within and any home they lived in would have been just as nice.
Uncle Verl, you will be missed always. Rest in peace.
