MARS HILL: Hazel Radford Hensley, the matriarch of a large loving family died Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the age of 89 at her residence. A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Callahan Radford and the wife of the late Talmadge McCall Hensley. She was also preceded in death by daughters; Taffy Nelene Hensley and Mary Linda Revis as well as son-in-laws; Dr. Larry Hulvey, Bob Revis and Mike Seagle. Hazel attended Madison County Schools and was a member of Little Ivy Baptist Church. Her hobbies included quilting, hooked rug making and writing poetry.
Hazel is survived by five daughters; Judy Hulvey of Mars Hill, Terry Robinson (Les) of Asheville, Rebecca Ritch (Tim) of Mars Hill, Rachel Penland (Davey) of Weaverville and Janie McKinney (David) of Mars Hill, two sons; Ted Hensley (Shirley) of Fairview and Tim Hensley (Nana) of Marion. Her extended family includes; 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Ken Jenkins will officiate. Burial will follow in Mars Hill Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Blue Ridge Funeral Services Obit
