Funeral services for Avis Keen Rodgers, 78, of Levelland will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at College Avenue Baptist Church, Levelland, Texas with Dr. Ken Horn, Lubbock, Texas and Rev. Bruce Cotton, also of Lubbock officiating. Burial will be in City of Levelland Cemetery under direction of George Price Funeral Home.The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday, December 19, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. She died Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Levelland, Texas.
She was born on September 7, 1933 in Jester, Texas to Van Luther and Annie (Covington) Ward. They moved to Hockley County from Corsicana, Texas. Avis married Johnnie Keen October 17, 1951 in Clovis, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2000. She later married William "Bo" Rodgers on April 29, 2005 and he preceded her in death November 27, 2010.
Avis was a homemaker and a member of College Avenue Baptist Church, Levelland, Texas.
She is survived by a son: Terry Keen and his wife, Becky of Levelland, Texas; three daughters: Margaret Eller and her husband, Alan , Jeanne Smith and her husband, Ronny, all of Levelland, Texas; and Donna Bass and her husband, Jim of Amarillo, Texas; a step-daughter: Brenda Wells of Levelland, and two step sons: Joey Rodgers and Brad Rodgers, both of Brownfield, Texas; a sister: Joyce Huffaker of Lubbock, Texas, twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother: Floyd Ward and a sister: Naomi Mulkey.
