John "Lum" Luman, the son of John Wesley Luman and Martha L. Gary. He married Dorothy "Dollie" Mae Metcalf the daughter of Elisha Henry "Bud" Metcalf and Ruthie Jane "Janie" Cummings. They were married on September 6th, 1925 in Texas. They had five known children together, three sons and two daughters.

The 1910 US-Census for Justice Precinct 6, San Augustine County, Texas list: John L. Luman age 5, living with his father JW Luman age 28, Married-Head of Household-Farmer, and his mother Martha L. Luman age 35. Also listed are his three siblings, sister Cora F. age 10, brother Jessie L. age 8, and brother Leroy age 6. (Parents both born in Arkansas, and all the children born in Texas.)

The 1920 US-Census for Justice Precinct 1, Shelby County, Texas list: Lemuel Luman age 14, living with his father West Luman age 37, Married-Head of Household-Farmer, and his mother Martha Luman age 43. Also listed are his four brothers; Fayte age 17, Roy age 15, Virgil age 5, and his grandfather John age 73, Widower. (Parents both born in Arkansas, all children born in Texas, grandfather born in Tennessee.)

The 1930 US-Census for Justice Precinct 3, Shelby County, Texas list: Lum T* (Luman) age 24, Married-Head of Household-Farmer, wife Dollie M. age 22, Mother-in-law Jannie Metcalf age 59. Also listed are their two children, Fred E. age 3, Bernice age 0. All listed born in Texas, except for the mother-in-law, she was born in Tennessee.

The 1940 US-Census for Justice Precinct 3, Shelby County, Texas list: Lum Luman age 34, Married-Head of Household, wife Dallie age 32, Mother-in-law Ruthie J. Metcalf age 67. Also listed are their five children, Fred E. age 14, Bernice age 10, Madgaline age 8, Martha Jean age 7, and Maurice age 5.
