OBITUARY :
M. LOUISE KARPER, 90, a resident of the Shippensburg Health Care Center, died on Friday, December 9, 2011, at the Health Care Center.

She was born on February 18, 1921 in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Jesse and Leora Booz Jones.

Louise was employed at Shippensburg University, where she worked in the Athletics Laundry Department, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Messiah United Methodist Church, Shippensburg, a member of the Ft. Morris AARP #2525, and liked to make needlepoint and crafts.

She is survived by her son, Roy F. (Nancy) Piper of Orrstown; her daughter, Catherine L. (Ray) Washinger of Shippensburg; a stepson, David E. Karper of Carlisle; a stepdaughter, Patricia (Rodney) Shatzer of Chambersburg; three brothers, Chester (Bermeda) Jones, Leroy (Frances) Jones, and John (Romaine) Jones, all of Shippensburg; three sisters, Bernita (Bruce) Bistline of Carlisle, Beatrice Waggoner of Mechanicsburg, and Ethel Palmer of Shippensburg; seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy F. Piper, Sr.; her second husband, David Karper; and one grandson, Scott Washinger.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Messiah United Methodist Church at 30 South Penn Street Shippensburg, PA 17257.
