Our loving husband and father, Daniel B. Wilson, 51, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 8, 2011.

He was born August 22, 1960 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin to George B. and Carol A. Wilson.

Growing up in Michigan, Dan developed a love for running while participating on his high school cross country team. Dan went on to attend Brigham Young University, where he continued to run competitively and studied computer science. While attending BYU, Dan met Tere, the love of his life, and they were sealed together in the Provo Utah Temple.

The majority of Dan's career was spent at Novell. He enjoyed using his creativity and thinking outside the box to generate new and helpful ideas and inventions that have benefitted the lives of many.

In December of 2007, Dan began to work for the LDS Church as a software engineer for their Family History Department. His time spent working there was cut short due to his diagnosis of brain cancer, but that didn't stop his passion for life.

Nothing could keep Dan from spending time outdoors with his family and friends. You could always find Dan boating, playing, and hiking with his children, as well as with the youth of his ward. His time spent serving the youth made for some of his most cherished memories.

He loved serving others, especially during his time as an LDS Bishop. His wit and humor always kept people laughing. Through his battle with cancer he stayed strong and never lost faith.

Survived by his wife, Maria; children, Danielle Longenecker, G. Bruce Wilson, Samuel Wilson, and Eliza Wilson; granddaughters, Hailey and Mia Longenecker; parents, Geroge and Carol Wilson; and siblings, Colleen Copple, Patrick Wilson, Kim Bartholomew, Mary Russon, Christopher Wilson, and Katherine Healey. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Katherine Hutchinson.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2011 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Manila Fifth Ward Building, 3396 North 900 West, Pleasant Grove. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2011 in the Pleasant Grove Manila Stake Center, 950 East 850 North, American Fork, where a viewing will also be held that morning beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will be in the Highland City Cemetery, 6100 West 11000 North, Highland.
