Mr. Jewell Crane, age 76, of Dawsonville, GA (Lumpkin County) died September 7, 2009.

Dillard Jewell Crane was born June 30, 1933. He lived the majority of his life in Lumpkin County on the farm in Mill Creek. Everyone in the community fondly knew Jewell as Pa Jewell He was frequently the first person newcomers would meet and he always had a story to tell about how Mill Creek had changed over the years. He was also known for providing free tractor rides to the children in the neighborhood. Pa was always ready to help a neighbor and enjoyed the frequent visits as folks stopped by to say hello as they were going or coming back into the community. Pa's frequent smile and wave will be really missed in Mill Creek.

He was the son of the late Dillard and Esta Mae Crane and was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Inez Shope.

Jewell is survived by his wife, Janie Letnette (Neta)Crane, Dawsonville, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Harry Cronan, Dawsonville, GA, Patricia (Tricia)and Marty Howard, Dawsonville, GA; grandsons, Colby Howard, Casey Cronan, Nathan Cronan, and great-grandson, Ian Cronan. A number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Crane are scheduled for 1 PM Thursday September 10, 2009 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Charles Grant and Rev. John Dowdy will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 PM until 9 PM and again on Thursday until the time of service.
