SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of David Oda Dryden will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 9, 2011, at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens North in Blanchard, LA. Officiating will Reverends Delbert Terry and Kenneth Durham. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
David was born in Ball, LA, on December 23, 1919, to John and Martha Dryden. He passed away December 4, 2011, in Shreveport, LA.
He was resident of Blanchard and retired from Shreveport Transit Company after 26 years of service. David proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor. After retirement, David enjoyed gardening and raising cattle.
His parents, five brothers, three sisters and his granddaughter, Cindy Colson, preceded David in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Lillie Dryden; sons, Larry Dryden, Darrell Dryden, Michael Dryden and Eric Dryden; daughter, Lois Ashby; 6 grandsons; 1 grandson in law; 4 great granddaughters; 7 great grandsons and 2 great-great grandsons.
Honoring David as active pallbearers will be L.D. Dryden, Jeff Dryden, Kevin Dryden, Sean Dryden, Rick Colson, and Melvin Tison.
