Marie L. Goldsmith, 83, Clarence, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Clarence Nursing Home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's United Church of Christ, Clarence. The Rev. David Mears will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Church Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence. She was born Sept. 16, 1918, in rural Cedar County. She married Marvin L. Goldsmith on May 16, 1937, in Clarence. He died Feb. 18, 1998. Survivors include a son, Kent and wife, Sharon, Cedar Rapids; daughters, Virjean and husband, James Svoboda, Overgaard, Ariz., Barbara and husband, Ed Archer, Stanwood, and Maria and husband, Dave Wiedenhoff, Olin; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Goldsmith, Eldridge; a brother, Barnell and wife, Helen Rowold, Clarence; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
