Martha "Marthy" J. Abbott was the wife of Luther C. Abbott.

Luther C. Abbott served in the 8th Maine Regiment Company "C." He was mustered in Sept 7, 1861. He was a 2nd Corporal and was promoted to Sergeant on May 1, 1862.

Martha and Luther had at least two children: Carroll B. Abbott who is buried with his mother and Harold Luther Abbott who lived in North Turner, Maine at the time of his death in 1945.

----------------

Father: Joseph Field
Mother: Deborah S. Frank

1850: Living in Sumner, Oxford, Maine

Note: Luther C. and Martha J. Abbott were reported born in 1839 throughout all the paperwork. The death record from the doctor is indicating that Martha was 68 yrs at time of death, b. 1839. Martha's birth date on all the paperwork indicates 1839/1840. Unless they were both lying about their age by 10 years throughout their life, I tend to think there is a misread of his birth registry (no paperwork available), which was passed on to the family members that erected this stone.
