Polish Nobility. Known as Mieszko I Plątonogi or as Miecislao IV, a descendant of the Plast and Babenberg dynasty, he was Grand Duke of Poland and Silesia between 1163 and 1210. He initially governed these regions together with his brother Boleslav with the political-military support of Frederick Barbarossa but the cooperation between the two brothers did not last long due to territorial domains. The culmination of his political career was the conquest of the city of Krakow obtained without bloodshed.
