Helen V. Egbers Dunlap Hawkins, 87, of Waverly, Illinois, formerly of Payson and Quincy, died Saturday, May18, 2002 at St. John's Hospice. She was born on June 26, 1914 in Warsaw, Illinois, the daughter of John Warren and Edith Campbell Egbers. She married Alan "Dutch" D. Dunlap on September 1, 1935 and he preceded her in death on January 1, 1970. She later married Sam Hawkins on June 18, June 18, 1970, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 1990.

She is survived by one step-daughter, Hilma L. Hawkins of Springfield; two brothers, Harold (wife, Mildred) Egbers of Towanda and Jack (wife, Lynda) Egbers of Arlington, Texas and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John K. (surviving wife, Mary) Egbers of Quincy and Roger Egbers.

She had been employed as a secretary for the Electric Wheel Company in Quincy, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and the Illinois Department of Public Health, both in Springfield, Illinois, from which she retired in 1980. She was a member of the Waverly First Baptist Church. Mrs.Hawkins was also very active in the Waverly Senior Center.
Services were entrusted to Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home of Waverly, Illinois.
