Merle R. Bierma, 66, of Idaho Falls, died September 30, 1991 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of respiratory failure.
He was born July 9, 1925 at Madrid, Nebraska to Dick and Nellie Bierma. He attended schools at Madrid and graduated from Sutherland, Nebraska High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
On February 3, 1956 he married Marjorie Giles in Idaho Falls. She died in 1985. He worked as a farm laborer in Idaho Falls for 35 years. He was a member of the LDS church. He enjoyed camping and traveling.
Survivors include his second wife, Laura, of Idaho Falls; his children, Dennis Bierma, Richard Bierma, and Lisa Jones, all of Idaho Falls; five brothers and three sisters, Chester Bierma of Cozada, Nebraska, Lester Bierma of North Platt, Nebraska, Lawrence Bierma of Tyrone, Nebraska, Charles Bierma and Gayle Bierma, both of Omaha, Nebraska, Marjorie Arnold of Sutherland, Nebraska, Erma Jean Young of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, and Norma Schofield of Redwood City, California.
Graveside services will be Friday in Ammon Cemetery with Bishop Greg Monac of the Idaho Falls LDS 3rd Ward officiating.
