Myron J. Zimmer (1892-1949) was a prolific inventor with several dozen utility and design patents. He worked for the Edward Katzinger Company of Chicago.

In 1888 Edward Katzinger founded a commercial baking pan company in Chicago. In 1914, he trademarked the EKCO name (E for Edward, K for Katzinger, CO for company). About 1945 the name of the company was changed to Ekco Products. The company was later named the Ekco Housewares Co. and by the 1960s it was the country's largest non-electric housewares manufacturer.

Just about every kitchen utensil we use today to improve our quality of life is owed to this man.
