Helen L. Percifield, 96, formerly of Delphi, died at 10 a.m. Nov. 29, 2011, at Indiana Veteran's Home, West Lafayette.

Born April 8, 1915, in Darlington, IN, she was the daughter of J. Oliver Jackman and Victoria E. (Decker) Jackman.

She married Paul H. McMurray on Nov. 22, 1936 and they divorced in 1970. She married Howard Percifield on October 16, 1971. He preceded her on Jan. 26, 1988.

She had worked at Wynkoop Pharmacy, Delphi; Hyman Grocery, Delphi in the 40's; Lahr Motors, Delphi, from 1952-1959; National Homes, Lafayette from 1962-1966; Bill Andrews Oldsmobile, Lafayette from 1968-1970; Carpetland, Lafayette from 1970-1978. After retiring from Carpetland in 1978 she returned to work for Carpetland again from 1989 to 1995, retiring for the 2nd time at the age of 80.

She attended Darlington Schools, graduated from Lafayette Business College in 1952 and Real Estate School, Indianapolis.

She was a member of the Clawson Travel Club, Kappa Kappa Sigma and the Bethany Presbyterian Church, Lafayette. She is a former member of the Delphi Professional Business Women's Organization, Delphi and had been a Brownie leader, Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader.

She always enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

Survivors: daughter Marlene Kaye (McMurray) Petry (husband: Dr. T. Neal Petry), Battle Ground; son Paul R. "Skip" McMurray (wife: Mary) Rockville; stepson John Percifield (wife: Carolyn), West Lafayette; stepdaughter Margie Blackwell, Punta Gorda, FL; 4 grandchildren; 5 stepgrandchildren; 8 great grandchildren;1 great great grandchild

Preceded in death by husband, a son, Rex who died at six months, a granddaughter Kitty Petry, and grandson Thomas Nelson Petry, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.

Visitation 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Indiana Veteran's Home Chapel, West Lafayette, Chaplain David Hess officiatiing. Burial: Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette. Memorial contributions: Bethany Presbyterian Church or donor's choice. Davidson Funeral Home handling arrangements.
