BROWNWOOD -- John B. Griggs, 80, died Wednesday in a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Mr. Griggs was born in Elora, Tenn., and maried Marie Morrison in 1941 in Brady. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean conflict. He retired from the Army as a chief warrant officer. He moved to Brownwood in 1975 and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; three daughters, Sharron Welch of Bellevue, Wash., Ginny Snyder of Sellersville, Pa., and Carolyn Burke of Castro Valley, Calif.; one sister, Evelyn Waldrop of Tennessee; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
