Fort Gratiot -- Hilda Marie Garbutt, age 86, passed away August 19, 2010 in Port Huron. She was the daughter of henry and Edna (Sly) Locke. Born December 1, 1923 on a farm in Worth Township, Sanilac County, Michigan.
She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. A choir director for 32 years. a Sunday School teacher many years, a life member of the UMW. She worked at Westbrook Hardware, Croswell 15 years. She and Robert F. Garbutt were married on April 3, 1943 in the Lexington U. Methodist Church. They farmed most of their lives on their centennial farm in Worth Twp. before moving to Fort Gratiot in 1997. Bob died December 24, 2005.
She is survived by one son, Robert Morris Garbutt, two daughters, Kay L. Fuller, both of Port Huron, Barbara Lee (Garey) Herbert of Croswell. Grandchildren, Katie Plohocky of Tulsa, OK, Heidi (Scott) Anglebrandt of Howell, MI, Melanie (Mark) Fuller Barry of Jacksonville, FL, Melissa (Camille) Khabbaz of Port Huron, Marcy (Pat) Conley of Imlay City, Theresa (Scott) Straffon of Croswell, Dana Herbert Massop of CA. Vincent (Sheila) Herbert of Croswell, and Leann Herbert Hicks of TX. Fourteen grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Two sister-in-laws; Almeda Locke of Lakeport and Esther Locke of Spring Hill, FL
She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 23 ag Pomeroy Funeral Home, Croswell. Pastor Kevin Fick will officiate. Burial in Croswell Cemetery.
