Marvis R. Adams, age 80, of Seminole, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones. Born in Florala, Alabama, to Roy and Jewell Adams, he lived most of his life in the lower Alabama and Florida panhandle area.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father; his brother, Lewie R. Adams and his sister, Annis Myrle Adams. Marvis is survived by his two sons and their families, Mark Adams and his wife Lynn, Ray Adams and wife Becky and their three children, Danielle, Courtney and Garrett; his former wife, Voncile Adams; his brother-in-law’s, Harold Day and Jerry Morgan; his sister-in-law’s, Anne Adams and Martha Morgan; his nephews, Ralph Adams, Brad Adams, Michel King, Stan Ritter, Doug Ritter, Jason Day, Jonathan Day; his nieces, Sher Cox, Riannon Boven, Sonya Merritt, Jeanie Bland, Angie Ritter; and their extended families.

Marvis was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother in Christ, dedicated and loyal servant of the United States of America, mentor, teacher and friend to all.

He was extremely passionate about spending time with his family and friends, his work, playing bridge, being outdoors and on the farm, digging in the dirt and duck hunting. Marvis showed genius mathematical tendencies at an early age, with his knowledge being recognized by his school teachers and those around him. Marvis left the United States at an early age to serve in the U.S. Army in Berlin, Germany shortly after World War II. After returning to the United States, Marvis worked on the Space Program in the early sixties, and was relocated to Eglin Air Force Base to continue his work for the Department of Defense until his final retirement. Marvis received innumerable awards, commendations and recognitions from the highest branches of the United States government, Congress and the House of Representatives, as well as the military branches of the United States Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines. During his tenure, Marvis also worked as a liaison for the Department of Defense with many foreign countries. Marvis dedicated nearly 50 years of his lifetime to the United States of America.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, at Evans Funeral Home, 1972 6th Street in Florala, Alabama with visitation starting at 10:00AM with funeral services following at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Baptist Church, 3863 Highway 54, Florala, Alabama, with military honors. Evans Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
