She was born March 13, 1898 in Sharon Township, Richland County, and lived in the area all her life. She was a member of the Ontario United Methodist Church.
Survivors include, Virgil and Ethel (nee Anderson) Downs of Mansfield, Gerald and Barb (nee Stahl) Downs, Raymond and Pat (nee Ford) Downs of Shelby; daughters, Rhea and Henry Goetz, Juanita and Marvin Zody, and Naomi and Fred Dapper, all of Mansfield; 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bertha (Walter) Thomas of Crestline, Pauline (Joseph) Poffenbaugh of Shelby, Marguerite (Harold) Reed of Mansfield; brothers, Paul (Jerri nee Love) of Warner Robins, Georgia, and John (Barbara nee Parkison) of Shelby.
Harriet was predeceased by husband, Ray Downs, her parents, Karl and Hattie (nee Frank) Siegfried, brothers, Jesse, Otto, Carl, sisters, Pearl, and Sophina, in-laws, Dessie (nee Brown) Siegfried, Walter Thomas, Joseph Poffenbaugh, Jerri (nee Love) Siegfried, Harold Reed, Gloria (nee Riley) Downs, stillborn brother and a sister.
Services will be held Friday, 28 December, at the Ontario home of Wappner Funeral Directors, by the Rev. Wilbur Meiser, visitation pastor of the Ontario United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Ontario Church Cemetery.
