Joe was a high school teacher and principal at Daleville High School. The National Honor Society at the school is named in his memory, as the Joseph R Holbrook Memorial National Honor Society. His wife, son, brother in law, 2 nephews, 3 great nephews and one great niece all graduated from Daleville HS.
Joe taught for 38 years. Joe also farmed in Daleville.
He had diabetes and Parkinsons, and passed as the result of a duodenal ulcer. At the time of his death, Joe was survived by his wife, a son and daughter in law, 3 grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
Since his passing, one granddaughter, four great-granddaughters, and 2 great-grandsons have been added to the family.
He was a member of The Daleville Christian Church, The Middletown Masonic Lodge, and The Knights of Pythias Muncie.
Services were held at Shirey Funeral Home in Daleville The Rev. Joe Tempfer, pastor of The Daleville Christian Church was in charge of the services.
