Gladys A. Abler, 83, formerly of 95 18th Street, Fond du Lac and a resident of Bethel Lutheran Home in Oshkosh, died on Sunday, November 6, 2011.
Gladys was born in Johnsburg on January 22, 1928, the daughter of the late Erwin and Edna (Guelig) Roehrig. She was baptized at St. John the Baptist Church on January 24, 1928. On May 20, 1947 she married Adolph A. Abler of Mt. Calvary. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2000.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She left a legacy of beautiful quilts, crocheting, knitting and other hand crafted wonders. She enjoyed gardening and the Green Bay Packers.
Gladys especially found joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sandra Peterson of Oshkosh and Susanne (Ken) Maciejewski of Fond du Lac; one son, Thomas (Natalie) Abler of Fond du Lac; 6 grandchildren, Sarah Lichman-Ruch, Andrea (Marty) Witt, Hannah Abler and Bennett Abler all of Fond du Lac, Victoria Peterson and John (Amanda) Peterson of Oshkosh; two great grandsons, Brady and Charles Ruch. She is also survived by two sisters, Adeline Stephany of Malone and Alice Stenz of Pipe; sister-in-law, Rose (Krebsbach) Roehrig of St. Peter.
Preceding Gladys in death are husband and her brother Lloyd Roehrig.
Visitation: The family will receive relatives and friends at Sacred Heart Church, Holy Family Parish, 200 S. Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac, on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from 4:00 to 5:15 pm.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 5:30 pm. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
A memorial in her name will be established.
