African Leader. Banana served as the Vice-President of The African National Council (ANC) in Rhodesia, and then as the President of Zimbabwe from April 18, 1980, to December 31, 1987. Also a minister he was convicted of sodomy in 1998 but fled to South Africa where he died in November 2003 at the age of 67.
