A Buncombe Co. native, Mr. Gossett was a son of the late James Francis and Blanche Myrtle Teague Gossett.
He was the owner and operator of Gossett's Grocery for 50 years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, and attended Grace Fellowship Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley King Gossett; a daughter, Kelly Worley and her husband, Ellison; son, Dwayne Gossett and wife Nancy; sisters, Lou Gossett, and Elizabeth Wells and husband James; brother, Carl J. Gossett and wife JoAnne; three grandchildren, Lindsay and D.J. Gossett, and Jonathon Worley, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Mr. Gossett will be on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Groce Funeral Home Chapel on Patton Ave., with the Revs. Dr. Bob Doom and Ed Worley officiating. Interment will follow at Big Sandy United Methodist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
