Mary Louise Bunting Simmons, 82, passed away November 14, 2011. She was born in Lakeland, FL to Mary Tom Nelms Bunting and John Haynes Bunting. Mrs. Simmons was a resident of Jacksonville for more than 50 years. She worked for the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio (GM&O) Railroad, through the merger with the Illinois Central (IC) enjoying a 30 year professional life and retiring as a Senior Freight Solicitor in 1987. During her career, Mrs. Simmons was an active member of the RBWA (Railway Business Womens Association), becoming president of the organization during the 1960s. Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Simmons. She is survived by her daughter, Patti (Joel) Chapman, Middleburg, FL; son, Charles (Lisa) Simmons, Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Jake & Audrey Simmons, Baltimore, MD; Nieces LeeAnn Dwyer, Gainesville, FL, Mickey (Chuck) Gault, Sandia Park, NM; Nephews, Michael (Beverly) Dwyer, Gainesville, FL, Mike (Sylvia) Kelly, Sandia Park, NM and many other special family members and friends. Services will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 11:30 am. A reception will follow at River City Brewing at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to Haven Hospice, ET York Center, 4305 NW 90th Blvd, Gainesville, FL 32606. Arrangements are entrusted to Forest Meadows Funeral Home, Cemeteries, and Crematory.
