Swedish Prime Minister. Served as Prime Minister of Sweden from 1946 until 1969, the longest period of time for a leader in a western democracy. He was also the leader of the Swedish Social Democratic Party, and was considered a fatherly figure to the nation. Tage Erlander always appeared with modesty and a great sense of humor. He was succeeded by Olof Palme, for whom he was a mentor.
