Mr. Cornelius B. Shope, sr., one of the oldest and most respected citizens of this place, died at his residence about 11.20 o'clock yesterday morning. Mr. Shope had been a sufferer with a complication of diseases for nine years and was bedfast for the past five months. He was a consistent member of the United Brethren church for many years and took an active part in church work, having served as a trustee and class leader. He was also superintendent of the Sunday school for a number of years. He was at one time engaged in the grocery business in this place with his brother, Adam, and also served as a school director in Swatara township. Mr. Shope was in his 67th year and is survived by a wife and two sons, Wesley and C. B. Shope, Jr., of Harrisburg. The funeral will take place from his late residence on Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Services will be held in the United Brethren church and interment in the Oberlin Cemetery. The public can view the remains on Saturday from 9 a. m. to 1 p. m. at the family residence.
