From a transcript written by Chap and Nannie's son, William Joseph (b. 1878), in 1955: "That year, 1886, Mother's health began to break, at forty-six years of age. Father tried all the country doctors in Kerr County because that was all the kind of doctors there were in the county. None of them seemed to know just what was the matter with her. The next year (1887) we moved about one-half mile south from the Coleman farm. All the time, Mother gradually grew worse. And on the 28th day of May, 1887, God called her home. We laid her to rest under a large liveoak tree by the side of Cousin Catherine Harris (Cousin Frank Harris' Sister) who was the only person buried there on the Frank Harris farm. After that, all of the Frank Harris family who were living there at the time of their passing, were, of course, buried there."
