Berna Mabel Smythers Winesett, 95 of Woodlawn, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Lewis Gale Pulaski Community Hospital.

Mrs. Winesett was born in Carroll County to the late Elbert "Early" and Amanda Landreth Smythers. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Edd Winesett; daughter Elizabeth Rakes; brother Omar Smythers; and sisters Ava Fender and Delphia Newman.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Gerald and Naomi Winesett of Whiteford, MD, Eldon and Linda Winesett, Neal and Norma Winesett, and Boyd Winesett all of Woodlawn; daughters and sons-in-law Jane and Johnny Jones of Max Meadows and Marcia and Bob Wilmoth of Street, MD; son-in-law Delmer Rakes of Woodlawn; brother William Smythers of Austinville; sister-in-law Lennes Smythers of Mount Airy, NC; brother-in-law BG Winesett of Woodlawn; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Woodlawn Church of God with Rev. John Briggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Pickett Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
