Steve Albert Vaughan born March 19, 1918, 93 went home to be in the loving arms of the Lord on Friday Nov. 4, 2011. His wife of 71 years, Edith Vaughan, was by his side at the time of his passing. He was known by many and loved by all. He was a devoted husband, father, and papaw who loved his family and the Lord.
He is also survived by his three sons, Verlen and Rudy of Duffield, VA and Shannon of Big Stone Gap, VA: one brother, Roy Vaughan of Kinsport, TN; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Julie Vaughan, two children, Kenny Vaughan and Lavana Hurd, 4 brothers and 6 sisters.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 at Gilliam Funeral Home, Big Stone Gap, VA.
Funeral services will follow at 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home with James Runyon officiating.
Graveside services will follow in the Bishop Family Cemetery in Jasper, Lee Co., VA
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
