Olympic Athlete. Born in Budapest, he was a Hungarian boxer and the first fighter to win three Olympic Gold Medals. At the 1948 London Summer Olympics, he won the middleweight Gold Medal. In 1952 at the Summer Olympics in Helsinki, he won the light middleweight Gold Medal and again the light middleweight Gold Medal in 1956 at the Summer Olympics Melbourne, Australia. He also won Gold Medals at the European Amateur Championships in 1949 and 1951. In 1957, he turned professional and rose through the ranks as a top middleweight. He retired in 1964, with a record of 27 wins, 15 by knockout 2 draws and no losses. In 2001, he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. He died at age 77 in Budapest, Hungary.
