Bob was married multiple times. The first marriage to Betty Beasley resulted in one child, a son Robert Jr. His second marriage to Effie Osborne, resulted in a daughters, Shirley Williams. Bob lived out the majority of his adult life in Dayton, Ohio. He grew up on Diamond Ave as a child living with his mother. As an adult he moved around a bit then bought a house on Harbine Ave. In the 1990s Robert fell and broke his hip. Afterwords he lived in the nursing home on Livingston Avenue until his death.
Bob was a lifetime smoker. He said his older brothers started him when he was 5 years old. It comes as no surprise that he died of lung cancer. He was diagnosed with cancer just 3 days before his death. The nursing home thought he had pneumonia and he was transported to the hospital. His diagnosis only came after he'd entered into a coma from which he never woke. He spent his last few days at Hospice of Dayton surrounded by his loved ones.
