Son of Joseph and Nora Starnes. Veteran of World War II. Served as a medic in the United States Army. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lorraine Starnes in 1995.
*************************
Bob worked for Water Production from the early 50's to his retirement in the late 80's. His wife was called "Blondie". Bob was with the CCC in the late 30's and then went into the Army. He was a medic I believe with the 82nd Airborne Division*. I know he parachuted across the Rhein River. He had arrived in France prior to the Battle of the Bulge and when the battle started he and his group were moved to the front. He told me several stories about his time in Europe during the war that I remember to this day. He was also into race cars and after his retirement from the city he started an auto repair shop where he probably did more work on his own race cars than work on other cars for pay. He was a fine man and I enjoyed working with him.
