Title: John T. Staton Dies After 5 Weeks Illness
Was Pioneer Citizen of Wichita County, Coming here in 1886 – Typhoid Fever Caused Death

John T. Staton, a pioneer citizen of Wichita Falls, died at his home at 1419 Twelfth street at 11:05 Tuesday night after an illness of about, five weeks from typhoid fever complicated with stomach trouble. He was taken sick while on a trip to Oklahoma to look after his interests there and came back home a very sick man.

Mr. Staton was born in Wayne county, Illinois, January 5, 1856. He was married to Miss Bell Newby on October 19, 1879 and in 1881 came to Texas to make his home. The family first settled in Waxahachie where they lived for six years coming to Wichita county in 1886. After eleven years residence in this county the family moved to Cheyenne, Oklahoma, returning to Wichita Falls six years ago.

Mr. Staton was interested in farming lands in this section and in Oklahoma, owning oil lands near Electra. He was also interested in business property and had other interests in Wichita Falls. He had been a member of the Methodist church for fifteen years.

He leaves a widow, four sons and one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Hones of Elk City, Oklahoma. His sons, who live in Wichita Falls, are: Roscoe, Roy, Claude, and William. The funeral will be held at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the family residence and will be conducted by Rev. A. L. Andrews of the First M. E. Church South.
Cause of death Typhoid fever.
Place of death at residence 1419 12th. Funeral services at residence at 4pm by A.L. Andrews on July 8. Married.
