Director, Actor. He made his name in 1954 with the motion picture "Simon Syndare" (Simon Sinner). He made a career both as an actor and as director, and made some screenwritings as well. In 1960 Gunnar Hellström received his first Hollywood offer and most of his career he came to spend in the USA. He also became a successful director for TV and directed numerous episodes of Gunsmoke, The Wild, Wild West, Bonanza, How the West was Won (The Macahans), and the "soap opera of the soap operas": Dallas. But he was to have a "come-back" in Sweden. 1983 he directed and starred "Raskenstam," where he played against Agnetha Fältskog (former ABBA-member). He moved back to Sweden, settling down in the archipelago of Stockholm. His last big directing/acting production was about the acclaimed Swedish painter Anders Zorn, with himself playing Zorn.
