Jim was born July 17, 1929 in Knoxville, Tennessee, son of Verlin and Della Shipe DeVault.
He graduated from schools in Knoxville, Tennessee and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Jim was an avid sports fan of the Tennessee Volunteers. He was also a volunteer at Trident Hospital and was a member of the V.F.W.
He retired from South Carolina Electric & Gas as a Right of Way Executive.
Surviving are: one son and one daughter: Anthony Walter DeVault (Betsy) of Hemingway, SC, Debra Elizabeth Riley (Bill) of Adams Run, SC, two grandsons: Brandon Christopher Riley (Ashley) of Goose Creek and Jason Brett Riley (Summer) of Adams Run, three great grandchildren, one sister: Beatrice Trixie DeVault Newton of Atlanta, Georgia.
He was predeceased by two sisters and one brother.
Funeral Service will be held November 2, 2011 at 12:30 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville.
