J.V. Tawzer, 92, of Chattanooga, TN died on Saturday, October 29, 2011 in a local health care facility. Mr. Tawzer was born in Chickamauga, GA and had lived in Chattanooga, TN most of his life. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday school teacher. Mr. Tawzer was a Veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Tawzer, three sisters, Irma Paul, Vera Dean and Laura Burke, two brothers, Cullen and Fred Tawzer.


Survivors include a son, Don Tawzer, two daughters, Joyce Wood and Teresa Geer, seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Joe Evans officiating.


Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.


Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 165 Hamm Road, Chattanooga, TN 37405, or to The Gathering, 4445 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343.


The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at Heritage Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 7454 E. Brainerd Road, East Ridge, TN.
