Poet, Author, Director, Screenwriter, Actor. One of Sweden´s intellectual leaders. A ”multi-doer” with a predilection for words. Lyrics and poems containing subtle humour was Tage Danielsson´s distinctive feature. In 1956 he met Hans Alfredson, with whom he began a lifelong partnership. Together, as ”HasseåTage” they made ten popular revues, starting with ”Gröna Hund” (Green Dog) in 1962. 1964 T.D. released his book ”Sagor för barn över 18 år” (Tales for children over 18), and the year after the movie ”Att angöra en brygga” (The art of touching a jetty). In the year 1966 the duo founded the Swedish Amnesty Fund, and their engagement for social and humanistic issues were profound. ”A humanistic humourist”, is an often quoted description of Tage Danielsson. Every Christmas Eve his animated story ”Karl-Bertil Jonssons Julafton” (Karl-Bertil Jonsson´s Christmas Eve) runs on Swedish television, a tradition since some twenty years. ”Animalen” , a musical by Tage Danielsson was opened in 1979 and five years later he had the hounour of directing Astrid Lindgren´s ”Ronja Rövardotter”, which came to be his last big project. The 3rd of September 1985, he made his final performance. Just over a month later, cancer shortened his life.
