Bruce Raymond Saar, 49, died unexpectedly, May 31, 2004 in Atlantic Beach. He was born June 22, 1954 in Louisville, Kentucky and spent most of his life in the Jacksonville area. For seventeen years, Bruce successfully owned and operated S & S Lawn Industries. He recently sold his company to Nanak's Landscaping and became an operations manager with their firm. He was an avid Big Game Fisherman, enjoyed scuba diving and was a member of the Ft. George Episcopal Church. Like his father, Bruce was an Eagle Scout.

Family members include his wife, Barbara W. Saar; his son, Alex Robert Saar; sisters, Beverly (Dr. George M.) Stubbs of Ponte Vedra Beach and Rebecca L. Leone of Jacksonville Beach and his niece, Mary Ellen Kastelic of Jacksonville Beach. His father, Robert A. Saar in 1986 and his mother, Danalee W. Saar on May 13, 2004, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 4th in the St. Paul's by the Sea Episcopal Church of Jacksonville Beach with the Reverend Kammy Young, Rector, St. George Episcopal Church, officiating. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Billfish Foundation, 2161 East Commerce Blvd., 2nd Floor, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33308 or the St. George Episcopal Church, 10560 East Ft. George Road, Jacksonville, FL.
