Oberleutnant (Senior Lieutenant) Lt.Quass surrendered his company to the Allies in order to save their lives. Lt.Quass gave himself up to his own superiors, and was accused for treason. A court martial sentenced him to death. His wife was informed in advance about the day and time of the execution. An hour before the execution she woke up their 6 children, they burned a candle and prayed for their beloved husband and father. On November 18, 1944 at 06:00 AM Oberleutnant Georg Quass was executed by a firing squad in the dunes in Loosduinen.
