Mr. Virgil C. Hale, 85, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001.
He was owner of Hale Specialties, Inc., and was one of the developers of Hickory Valley Manor Townhomes. He was a longtime member of the former Eastdale Baptist Church, a member of Brainerd Baptist Church for over 25 years and a member of the John Stophel Sunday school class.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.E. Hale; and a sister, Virginia Head.Survivors include his wife, Ruth Haddock Hale; two daughters, Patricia H. Whitaker of Chattanooga and Sandra H. Packards of Columbus, Ohio; three brothers, Burke E. Hale of Ringgold, Ga., James W. Hale of Kensington, Ga., and Samuel N. Hale of Boaz, Ala.; four grandchildren, Virgil Scott Packard of Chattanooga, Mark D. Whitaker of Madison, Wisc., Kimberly W. Ashton of Laredo, Texas, and Shauna L. Packard of Dallas, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, March 1, at 2:30 p.m. in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Walker officiating. Interment to follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the John Stophel Sunday school class of Brainerd Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Siskin Rehabilitation Hospital in Mr. Hale's memory.
The family will receive friends today from 4-8 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
