Ethel Marie Reed Demske of Midland, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the Mid Michigan Medical Center. Ethel was born Janaury 22, 1918 in Midland to George and Ethel (Wint) Reed. She graduated from Midland PUblic Schools and then went on to Bay city Business School. She had worked at the Dow Chemical Company several years as a bookkeeper, then in the 70's she went to work for the Valley Plaza as the head cashier. On September 14, 1940, she married Lewis Demske (Aloysius D. Demski) at St. Brigid Catholic Church, and they were marrid 58 years. Lewis preceded her in death as well as her brother George Reed and a sister Julie McFarland. Ethel is survived by her children Richard Desmke of Midland, Lorraine Stockwell of Whitehall, MT, and Katheryn (Bob) Allen of Deer Lodge, MI; seven grandchilden, and 5 great-grandchildren; her sister Marjorie (John) Kelly of Flordia. Ehtel loved to knit, crochet and work cross word puzzles. When she was able she volunteered at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she was a member, doing luncheons and craft projects. She also loved her cat Jessie that kept her company. She loved going to salvage yards withher son Richard. Every old car had a story to tell Ethel would say, and she liked to look in them and imagine its story.
The funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2009 from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Father Peter J. Gaspeny will officate. Entombment will be in New Calvary Cemetary.
