Director, Producer. Born Louis Monta Bell in Washington, D.C., he was a stage performer and a set director when Charlie Chaplin hired him as an assistant director for "The Pilgrim" (1924). Becoming a director in his own right, he produced and directed more then 20 films between 1924 to 1945. His credits include "Lady of the Night" (1925), "The Cocoanuts" (1929), "The Torrent" (1930) and "China's Little Devils" (1945). He died at the age of 66 in Hollywood, California.
