Married Phillip Edwin Shively, son of Charles Henry Shively & his wife Viola Olivia Miller Shively∼Edith P. Shively, 95, of Midland, died on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at MidMichigan Medical Center. The daughter of the late Emmett R. and Flossie M. (Wise) Gooch was born in Jackson Township, Missouri on Nov. 22, 1912, where she was raised and educated. Edith enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her friends at Cleveland Manor and going to Happy Diners. She was married to Philip E. Shively. Together they enjoyed traveling, wintering in the southern parts of the United States, gardening and growing flowers. He died on Sept. 30, 1986. She had been employed at Lee's Laundry and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Surviving are her sons, James (Carol) Shively of Massachusetts, and Larry (Marilyn) Shively of Farmington Hills; daughter, Betty Smith of Shepherd; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Edith was predeceased by three brothers; three sisters; and son-in-law, Robert Smith. Funeral and committal services will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Interment will be in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
